Wednesday, January 31, 2007
St. Joseph, MO- The Blacksnakes recently acquired the rights of Mike Madrid from the River City Rascals of the Frontier League for Cash and a Player to be Named Later. The left handed slugger, originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2002, has averaged double digit home runs over the course of a five year professional career. In 2004 he was named to Baseball America's Short-Season All Star team by hitting 19 homeruns and driving in 86 RBI. After the loss of the American Association's Home Run Leader Wil Quintana, the Blacksnakes welcome Mike to spacious Phil Welch Stadium.
